Create a Worship Service Activity

The first step is to configure the worship activity. Typically, this activity is added to a ministry called Church Wide Services. Security access is granted to all ministry staff (Ministry Write access) so that all ministries may access and work with events that impact many ministries in the church. In this step you determine how you want our volunteers to be scheduled and whether or not to print name tags when volunteers check-in.

Assumptions

In this procedure, the assumption is that volunteers are assigned to particular schedules and must have an assignment prior to attending the activity. Additionally, the assumption is that you will use Check-in for your volunteer attendance.

Tip! If you have not configured a Church Wide Services (or Weekend Services) ministry, see Adding Ministries for complete details on how to create a ministry and assign security access rights to it.

To configure the activity:

1. Click Ministry > Activity/Room Setup > Activities. The Add/Edit Activity form appears. Note the name of the ministry that is listed just above the form.
2. If the church wide ministry is not displayed at the top of the form, click Change ministry and select the appropriate ministry. This is a critical step as you cannot move activities from one ministry to another if you accidentally add your activity to the wrong ministry.
3. Type the Activity name for your worship service activity. In this sample
4. Type the Age range for the activity as 200 to 200. This may seem strange, but it assures that volunteers do not accidentally get checked in as participants.
5. In the Check-in Settings box, do the following:
   • Select the Check-in enabled check box
   • Select the Print a name tag check box
6. In the Assignment Attributes box, select Activity Schedule in the Vol/Staff assignments drop-down list. Selecting this option ensures that you can assign volunteers to a specific Sunday service rather than all of them.
